It is now a day of commemoration for people worldwide.
In the United States, Holocaust Remembrance Day was first observed in 1979. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It was officially established as a holiday by the Israeli government in the 1950s. Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. Yom HaShoah, which loosely means "Day of The Catastrophe" in Hebrew, is Holocaust Remembrance Day. Behind this armistice one hears satanic laughter: it is consummated, we have succeeded, you no longer are the other race, the anti-race, the prime enemy of the millennial Reich you are no longer. We will also have interactive and educational activities throughout the day. Attitudes towards the Jews during the Holocaust mostly ranged from indifference to hostility. Each one will be followed by recitation of the Jewish mourners’ prayer, the lighting of candles, and encouragement to go forth to shine light. Tom Heller, the son of a survivor of two German concentration camps, will speak at 10:30 a.m. Our theme is Shining Light in the Darkness, which we hope will encourage people to take positive actions against the ills in our world. Listen to or read Holocaust survivors’ experiences, told in their own words through oral histories, written testimony, and public programs. One can draw many parallels between the state of the world then and now. Please mark your calendars to join us as we come together as a community to remember and learn about the genocide of 6 million Jews, as well as other targeted groups during WWII, so that the words “never again” will be a reality.
